Event Details

 Join Community leaders from Brooks, Jim Wells and Kleberg Counties, to discuss community Mental Health this coming October 8-9, 2010 in Kingsville, TX. The 2nd annual Together We Stand: Educating our Visions of the Future! – Mental Health Conference at Texas A&M University – Kingsville is free of charge and is open to everyone concerned about community Mental Health.

The Together We Stand: Educating our Visions of the Future, Mental Health Conference was established by dedicated community members throughout the Coastal Bend. These members, made up of consumers, providers and family members, collaborated to form Voices Leadership Group.

The Mission Statement of Voices Leadership Group is to promote Leadership and Trust by Educating and Informing ourselves and our communities to better understand what it is to live with mental health challenges. The Vision of the Voices Leadership Group is to create a growing community of Faith, Friendship, Peace and Respect.

Coastal Bend Rural Health Partnership



The Coastal Bend Rural Health Partnership (Partnership) focus is on rural communities in an eleven county region, which includes Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Refugio and San Patricio Counties.

 

The Mission of the Partnership is: To improve the health status of rural communities in the Coastal Bend

 

The Vision reads: To forge a leadership alliance among all sectors of the community to improve the health of our communities

 

The Partnership advances community health improvement by:

 

1.       Building the capacity of members to plan more effectively and implement community based interventions to address the critical issues confronting the communities in the Coastal Bend.

2.      Creating an opportunity for members to have a unified voice in public policy discussions that affect the communities they serve.

3.      Generating additional public and private resources for improving the health of rural communities across the Coastal Bend region.

4.      Encouraging and facilitating the networking and sharing of valuable information.

5.      Exploring and providing members benefits that encourage growth and sustainability of member organizations.

6.      Cooperating with local, regional, and/or national groups in the common endeavor to advance community health improvement.

 

Essentially, the principal role of the Partnership is to create a central, coordinating hub, which fosters broad community participation from a wide range of organizations and individuals. The current structure of the Partnership enables the rural collaborative to function in an umbrella coordinating role and serves as:

 

1.       A vehicle for individual organizations to avoid duplications of effort and leverage resources, knowledge, and technical proficiency to advance their respective agendas, and

2.      As an information exchange regarding: organizational updates/activities, technical developments, legislative/policy issues, etc.
